Children with no reading skills are able to read brand logos, packages, and various items. They can be introduced to reading and writing in English by beginning with these items of personal interest and by using the words that are the most motivating for children: names of family members and friends, animals, toys,food, etc., in other words, by utilizing the intuition they have acquired to successfully develop literacy in a new language.
RAINBOW LETTERS AND NUMBERS is a method that brings children to an understading of letters, words, phrases, and simple sentences in English, while taking into account that reading and writing only make sense within the context of a social practice that is directed toward achieving communicative competence.
This book presents the letters and numbers through visual recognition, matching, comparison, and introduction to reading activities in English. From the very beginning, all of these activities seek to promote comprehensive understading of the reading texts and to gradually guide children toward reading more complex texts in English.
There are also tracing,practice, and review pages for writing letters,words,and simple sentences in English, which help familiarize children with the feature of the letters and apply them in their writing.
The elements of comprehension of listening is added to help build word recognition and learn vocabulary.
